Imagine zipping from Delhi to Jaipur in just under 3 hours. No traffic snarls, no potholes, no delays — just smooth tarmac and open skies. Sounds unreal? Well, welcome to India’s next-gen road travel experience!
I recently drove from Delhi to Jaipur using a combination of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway, and let me tell you — this route is a total game-changer. Whether you’re a weekend traveler, business commuter, or someone just craving a spontaneous escape to Rajasthan’s royal charm, this route is now your fastest and smoothest option.
🗺️ The New Route at a Glance
- Start Point: Delhi NCR (Preferably Gurugram/Dwarka side for fastest access)
- Route:Delhi → Delhi-Mumbai Expressway → Bandikui -Jaipur Expressway → Jaipur
- Distance: Approx. 270–290 km (depending on starting point)
- Travel Time: 2.5 to 3 hours
- Best Time to Travel: Early morning or late evening to avoid urban traffic.
🛣️ Why This Route is a Game-Changer
1. Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME):
This stretch is nothing short of spectacular — an eight-lane, access-controlled expressway that lets you cruise at 100–120 km/h with almost no interruptions. Wide lanes, excellent signage, and scenic landscapes make it feel more like a drive through Europe than northern India.
- Entry Points:
- 1. Gurgaon → Sohna → Delhi Mumbai Expressway
- 2. Dwarka Expressway → Delhi Mumbai Expressway
- 3. Kalindikunj Kunj → Delhi Mumbai Expressway
- 4. KMP ( Eastern Peripheral Expressway ) → Delhi Mumbai Expressway
- Travel Time to Bandikui: ~1.5 hours approx
2. Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway:
This newly opened stretch is equally smooth and far less congested than the traditional NH-48 route. This road bypasses the heavy traffic zones like Behror, Shahpura, and Amer, making for a surprisingly fast and scenic entry into Jaipur.
- Scenery Tip: Watch out for the Aravalli hills as you approach Jaipur – they make for a perfect golden-hour backdrop.
⛽ Pit Stops & Essentials
Delhi Mumbai expressway is modern and services like food plazas and fuel stations are decently developed but these services are still unavailable in newly built Bandikui Jaipur expressway, so plan accordingly:
- Fuel Up Early: Top up your tank before entering .
- Essentials: Carry water, snacks, and maybe a playlist – there’s great network coverage throughout the route, so you’re never disconnected.
🏙️ Arrival in Jaipur – With Time to Spare!
We reached Jaipur in just under 3 hours and still had the whole day ahead. That meant more time to:
- Stroll through Johari Bazaar
- Catch sunset at Nahargarh Fort
- Enjoy a laid-back dinner at Tapri Central with skyline views
- Or simply sip lassi near Bapu Bazaar without rushing back
🚘 Final Thoughts
This new expressway combo is revolutionizing the Delhi to Jaipur road trip. What used to be a 5–6 hour slog can now be a smooth, quick getaway. Whether you're planning a weekend escape, a same-day return trip, or just want to explore Rajasthan’s capital with zero stress — this is your sign to hit the road.
🧭 Quick Travel Recap:
